Ingredients and Philosophy

My goal is to create great products using great ingredients with 100% transparency of these products.

I use 100% Pure and Organic products.  I have chosen my carrier oils based on the beneficial effects targeting skin and hair health. Below you will find a list of the ingredients I use and the companies I buy from.  (These may change as I find better or different companies and products.)

Carrier Oils:

Jojoba Oil: Currently from TheSulu

Jojoba oil is one of my favorite carrier oils and is in almost all of my products.  It closely matches our skin's natural oil, or sebum.

Sweet Almond Oil: Cocojojo Beauty Products

Ah, yes, sweet almond oil.  High in Vitamin E and A with lots of other goodies to help condition and keep your skin healthy.

Castor Oil: TheSULU Company

A nice thick oil rich in fatty acids with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Fractionated (Nature's Oil) and Regular (Costco) Coconut Oil:

Funny story here.  My first Candy Man oil I made had regular Coconut Oil in it.  This was August.  By the time the cooler weather came about, I was getting reports of the oil partially solidifying.  After a little research I found my error in my mixing.  Regular Coconut Oil solidifies at a lower temperature than the Fractionated Oil.  That mistake has been rectified but I still use Coconut Oil in my balm and butters.

Coconut oil is very nourishing and is quickly absorbed by the skin. Both are great for hydrating your hair and rebuilding any damaged hair.

Grape Seed Oil: No set supplier yet. (This was actually from GNC)

Full of vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acids, great moisturizer and conditioner for the skin.

The Butters:

Mango Butter: Mary Tylor Naturals

Mango butter is high in A and C vitamins, very moisturizing for your bearded face skin.  Its also non-comedogenic. (Fancy talk meaning it will not clog pores or kick up any acne.)

Shea Butter: Mary Tylor Naturals

Frankly, Shea butter annoys me.  I cant seem to get this stuff melted correctly to not be gritty in my beard butters.  That little issue aside, Shea Butter can condition, tone and smooth your skin.

Cocoa Butter: Mary Tylor Naturals

Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids and smells wonderful!  Its a staple in my butters.

Other Ingredients:

Bees Wax:

Here is the staple of the firmness and hold in the Balm and helps out the Butters as well.  I switched supply of the beeswax around Christmas time.  The jury is still out as I did like the local beeswax I was using.

Essential Oils:

I use a variety of sources and brands.  NOW brand, SULU brand  After my initial purchases, I have been transitioning to Organic Essential Oils for those that are available as Organic.

Fragrance Oils:

Again, I use a variety of brands and sources and frankly I dont think they make organic Fragrance Oils. :)
